**Job Duties**

Are you passionate about design and driven by innovation? VDOT Bristol is seeking engineering professionals with a focus on Civil Engineering to contribute to the design of new roadways, ensuring safety and efficiency on Virginia’s roads.

In this role, you’ll offer your engineering expertise within a collaborative team environment. You’ll work closely with VDOT staff, consultants, FHWA, and external customers to address project issues and provide recommendations. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies, procedures, and practices for various engineering projects and programs.

**Minimum Qualifications**

* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences.

* Experience applying civil engineering principles related to roadway design.

* Experience applying local, state and federal transportation rules, regulations, specifications and standards.

* Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

* Ability to coach and train others.

* Valid Professional Engineer’s license.

* Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include engineering and design software.

* Experience applying principles of roadway safety that impact roadway standards and special designs.

* Ability to effectively plan and schedule work.

* Experience applying roadway design criteria, basic storm water management regulations, construction methods, standards, specifications and materials.

**Additional Considerations**

* Certification as a Project Management Professional.

* Progressively responsible experience in roadway design and project management to include responsible charge engineering.
