**Job Duties**

The Hampton Roads District is seeking two new ***Tunnel Maintenance Supervisors***(Facilities Specialist Supervisor Bridge Tunnel) to direct and supervise the daily operations of facility maintenance crews (electrical, mechanical, and/ or plumbing) located at the Hampton Roads Harbor Tunnels (HRHT). ***One position will work the day shift, and one position will work nights (7:00pm – 5:00am Monday – Thursday).*** The position will supervise the maintenance and repair of all electrical and/ or mechanical equipment, while using a computerized maintenance management system (work order system). Responsibilities also include directing and supervising crew responses to emergencies; and performing duties as a Contract Administrator or Contract Monitor. This position is designated as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response, and emergency operations.

**Minimum Qualifications**

* Knowledge of the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and the National Electrical Code.
* Skill in use of tools and instruments used to install electrical or mechanical equipment and diagnosing or troubleshooting malfunctions.
* Knowledge of control circuits, PLCs, and troubleshooting controls for pumps, motors, and various other electrical or mechanical systems used in an industrial environment.
* Ability to perform major repairs and maintenance on a variety of electrical or mechanical equipment.
* Ability to read and comprehend service and repair manuals, gauges, testing devices, blueprints, schematics or diagrams.
* Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
* Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
* Skill in the use of computers, hand and power tools and advanced electronic and computerized diagnostic equipment.
* Ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter. Must comply with DOT and VDOT policies and standards when operating CDL equipment.
* Safety shoes required.
* Ability to supervise teams in the field, overseeing work of different trades performing various tunnel maintenance tasks or equivalent.
* Ability to communicate, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, equipment conditions, and maintenance requirements to maintenance staff, onsite contractors, and management.
* Experience in an industrial environment performing and supervising electrical, mechanical, plumping, grounds keeping maintenance work or equivalent.
* Journeyman Electrician License (or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment and maintain thereafter).

**Additional Considerations**

* Experience supervising and directing the repair and maintenance of mechanical or electrical components of a tunnel facility.
* Knowledge of contract administration, monitoring and procurement methods.
* A working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System work order system or equivalent.
* A working knowledge of LCAMS and VA Traffic as they impact lane closures affecting maintenance work.
* Masters Electrician License.

NOTE: All drivers hired without a valid CDL in hand are required to obtain their CDL within 11 months of their hire date. You cannot operate commercial motor vehicles prior to receiving the necessary licensure and medical certification. Effective February 7, 2022, new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations require entry-level drivers (drivers who are seeking to take the skills test in order to obtain a CDL for the first time, upgrade their CDL from a Class B to a Class A, or take the knowledge test to obtain a hazardous materials endorsement for the first time) to complete FMCSA- approved Entry-Level Driving (ELD) Training before the Department of Motor Vehicles can grant the requested CDL or endorsement. The course is comprised of 160 hours, on average, of training. VDOT is willing to assist with your enrollment in and payment for the course.

Fingerprint-based background check required. References, work history, and DMV records will be verified. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of records check conducted by the agency. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. H1B VISA Sponsorship is not available.

VDOT utilizes a market based pay program, which has been approved by DHRM. Therefore, advertised rates of pay may or may not align with the Commonwealth pay bands.
