Job Title: Mainframe Engineer III

Contract Type: W2 / C2C

Client: Confidential (will be shared during submission)

Location: Columbus, OH – Onsite (Local candidates preferred)

Work Authorization: GC, USC, H1B, H4EAD

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Engineer III to join our client’s dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in z/OS installation, storage management, hardware configuration, networking, performance management, and capacity planning within a Parallel Sysplex environment. This role requires a balance of technical depth, strong documentation skills, and the ability to mentor team members.

Responsibilities:

Perform SMP/E installations, debugging, and performance tuning.

Develop and maintain detailed documentation for procedures and practices.

Work within a regulated change control environment.

Deliver pre- and post-implementation impact assessments for zSeries hardware/software.

Provide technical direction, mentoring, and 24×7 on-call support (rotation basis).

Identify and implement improvements to enhance system reliability and recovery.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

5–10 years of experience in z/OS engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

Expertise in MainView, zOSMF, TCP/IP configuration, storage management, WLM, ChangeMan, ISV installations.

Strong background in performance & capacity reporting with zPCA, SAS/MXG, or Intellimagic.

Knowledge of banking industry processes (a plus).
