The Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) ensures the delivery of a comprehensive, community-informed, data-driven, high-quality, and equitable early childhood system that supports the care, education and well-being of all Colorado’s young children, their families and early childhood professionals in all settings. CDEC provides access to collaborative, coordinated, quality early childhood programs and support to children, families, and early care professionals in an effort to best prepare Coloradans for future success. CDEC works with many partners, including parents, schools, child care providers, Early Childhood Councils, counties, Community Centered Boards, early intervention service providers, family resources centers, county human services, county public health, businesses, community organizations, and other stakeholders to provide high-quality early childhood and family support programs.

**About the department:**
The Early Intervention (EI) program provides developmental support and services for children birth through two years of age who have special developmental needs. EI services can help improve a child’s ability to develop and learn as well as assist families by teaching new ways to promote a child’s development. The EI program provides services such as speech therapy, physical therapy, and other developmental services. EI is a voluntary program offered statewide and does not discriminate based on race, culture, religion, income level or disability.

**What you’ll be doing:**
This position is responsible for receiving referrals via the EI Colorado Referral Line, fax, and online referrals through the EI statewide Salesforce data system for families that have an infant or toddler with a diagnosed established condition or suspected developmental delay referred for evaluation to EI Colorado. As the initial service coordinator of record, this position is the first point of contact for families and is responsible for explaining the early intervention program and process for evaluation, family rights, eligibility, and service provision. This position is responsible for conducting the intake process and scheduling evaluation activities via the data system.

**Duties include but are not limited to:*** This position is responsible for the timely response to referrals as part of a Referral and Intake Team that receives statewide referrals through the EI Colorado Referral Line, fax, and online via the EI Salesforce data system.
* Acts as a first point of contact for Spanish speaking families that have an infant or toddler with a diagnosed established condition or suspected developmental delay and serves as the initial service coordinator.
* Explains early intervention and the evaluation process to families in a culturally responsive manner.
* Uses best judgment and EI protocols to determine the language needed to conduct an intake questionnaire, provides information on the family’s rights, explains the evaluation process, utilizes developed protocols to determine the best disciplines to provide the multidisciplinary evaluation, enters child and family information into the data system, and schedules the multidisciplinary evaluation.
* Review and recommend new or revised internal operating processes and procedures offered in Spanish.
* Helps to translate, review and offer input on Early Intervention Colorado materials, scripts, and presentations offered in Spanish.
* Participate on various committees, training events, special projects, and focus groups, including activities to maintain current knowledge of developments in the relevant profession as it pertains to Spanish-speaking families.
* Works independently in a remote working environment to schedule evaluations based on family preference and provider availability. Accesses statewide Salesforce data system to enter information and determine provider discipline, location, and availability.
* Manages the missed appointment and reschedule process.
* Works within the Salesforce data system to ensure best practices for Spanish speaking families including reviewing and ensuring that all processes are equitable.
* Documents work activities in the Salesforce data system.
* Works with the Care Navigator Supervisor and other Bilingual Care Navigators to ensure a smooth and positive experience for referral sources and Spanish speaking families seeking an evaluation.
* Adheres to all protocols and scripts to ensure a consistent and high-quality experience for families.
* Helps to translate, review and offer input on Spanish speaking scripts, documents and talking points shared with families.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**

Experience Only:

Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to psychology, sociology, social work, public policy, public administration, human services, education, early childhood, or human development. Must have at least two years of professional experience working as a service coordinator, in a call center or in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.

OR

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to psychology, sociology, social work, public policy, public administration, human services, education, early childhood, human development or family studies. Relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years. Must have at least two years of professional experience working as a service coordinator, in a call center or in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.

**Substitutions:*** Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
* Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

**Please note:** The required experience must be substantiated within the work experience section of your application and in the supplemental questions. **Preferred Qualifications:*** State experience relevant to this position
* Superior oral and written communication skills
* Prior professional experience working in state, federal or county agency
* Experience working in a team setting
* Experience working with highly confidential information
* Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications

**Essential Qualifications:*** Must be bilingual English/Spanish speaker

**Highly Desired:*** Experience with Google Meet, Zoom, Teams, or other web-based platforms for meetings
* Experience with Salesforce
* Proven editing abilities in composing, editing and reviewing memos and documents
