Job Summary:

St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pa is recruiting a **full time BC/BE Child Abuse Pediatrician** to join our team in our Child Protection Program.

The Child Protection Program was established in 2004 to provide comprehensive medical evaluation to victims of child maltreatment in the greater Philadelphia area. Current staff members includes one board certified child abuse pediatrician, a dedicated social worker, nurse, and support staff. The prospective candidates should have a vested interest in program development and education. Each year, this program provides hundreds of medical evaluations for suspected cases of physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect. These multidisciplinary evaluations occur in the inpatient setting, outpatient clinics, as well as the city’s regional Child Advocacy Center. Our team works closely with local investigative to ensure timely communication of the medical findings with each case. The program is committed towards educating trainees as well as medical students, residents and fellows in the region.

The Child Protection Program is part of St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, a nonprofit 188-bed pediatric-care facility, level I trauma center, and the only dedicated pediatric burn center in the region. St Chris is one of the oldest pediatric institutions in the county, historically known for the care it provides to this large community of need.

**What you can expect in this role:**

* Supportive team and culture
* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Provide outpatient service at our 3 office locations
* Conduct inpatient consults
* Educate medical providers in the areas of child abuse and neglect to prevent misdiagnosis
* Medically diagnosis patients to accurately determine abuse or injury
* Participate in judicial process assistance for patients and families
* Develop appropriate treatment plans and recommendations
* Work closely with non-medical professionals on potential abuse cases
* Schedule: Monday – Friday, Days, Call 1:4 weeks/weekends (Telephone)
* Clinic day: 4 -5 patients/day, 90 minutes/appointment
* Complete clinical documentation in a timely manner
* Academic appointment with Drexel University College of Medicine
* H1B visa sponsorship
* Qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to effectively communicate information to non-medical persons
* Professional behavior during trauma and crisis situations
* Provide testimony in court as required
* Function as team player supporting a multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to travel to all outpatient offices
* Design educational programs for medical and non-medical persons
* Demonstrated skills in communicating with all persons, clinical and non-clinical
* Participate in the department’s clinical and on-call schedule as directed by Section-Chief

Qualifications:
* BC/BE in Child Abuse Pediatrics, American Board of Pediatrics
* BC in Pediatrics, American Board of Pediatrics
* Graduate of an ACGME accredited Pediatric residency
* Graduate of an ACGME accredited Child Abuse Pediatric Fellowship
* Unrestricted PA medical license at time of employment
* Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification for Commonwealth of PA
