**Title**: Communications Specialist/Writer

**Work location**: 1201 Calle Ceiba Jardín Botánico Sur San Juan, PR 00926-1119

**Agency**: US Forest Service International Institute of Tropical Forestry

**Duration of contract**: 3 years months (10/01/2025-09/30/2026)

**Term**: Fulltime with Alphident

**Job Responsibilities**:

– Develop monthly briefings on relevant scientific technical findings for the research work unit.
– Provide text for an accomplishment report highlighting scientific findings and capacity of IITF.
– Development science translation blogs, articles, research highlights, and communications related to hurricane recovery projects for USDA and Forest Service outlets.
– Regular meeting to discuss progress and editions of the tasks.
– Consolidate evidence, photos, materials of hurricane recovery projects with communications staff.
– Develop bimonthly reports for the Forest Service American Relief Act 60-day Congressional Report

**Requirements**:

– Masters degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field
– 5+ years of proven experience in scientific writing, communications, branding, public relations and outreach campaigns
– Fluency in English and Spanish, excellent writing skills.
– Must be eligible for and maintain a Public Trust background clearance
