Coordinator II, VISA (226 Days) GRANT FUNDED -(RTP20250416-003)

Description

Manage the visa and work authorization processes for the district’s employees on all visas and special authorizations.

* Coordinate the day-to-day functions related to all district employees on employment authorizations (OPT, H1B, J1, F1 etc.).
* Discuss the progress of projects and relay information from the district’s immigration attorney on H1B visa employees.
* Participate in short and long-range planning of the extension of H1B status and permanent residence process for eligible employees.
* Monitor the electronic records (Oracle) of employees with any type of work authorization to help ensure the employee maintains valid work authorization and renews their status in a timely manner.
* Serve as liaison between the employee and the Talent Leader Acquisitions, providing information and instruction, such as schedule appointments as needed to discuss the individual’s legal status and implications to their employment.
* Discuss the needs/concerns of campuses recommending a candidate for hire requiring H1B visa sponsorship with the Manager of Talent Acquisition. Provide timely updates of the progress of a new hire with the campus, Human Capital Management staff, and Talent Leader Acquisitions.
* Perform administrative duties including maintaining the Public Information File (H1B visa filing system) as per Department of Labor guidelines, processing routine correspondence, placing and receiving telephone calls and recorded messages, typing documents and correspondence.
* Provide support to employees under work authorizations, such as employment verification to third parties, requests for travel packets, assist with preparation on extensions of H1B status and Application for Labor Certification, respond to requests/audits by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), relay information from the attorney to employees on their case status as well as any general updates on changes with the USCIS and Department of Labor.
* Work closely with district’s immigration attorney to comply with the Department of Labor regulations on applying for the permanent residence process including generating the reports needed to determine the employees eligible to begin the process Respond under the supervision of the Talent Leader Acquisitions and immigration attorney to requests/audits including developing and monitoring the recruitment campaign for each new group filed for the Application for Labor Certification.
* Provide support to HCM staff on I-9 verification and filing for employees under work authorizations (OPT, H1B, J1, F1 etc.).
* Work closely with the Alternative Certification Program to identify and monitor AC interns under H1B work authorizations.
* Provide support to the Teacher Residency Coordinator, such as contacting Student Teachers to instruct on registering as a DISD volunteer, inform of upcoming events/workshops, orientation and end of semester meetings with Student Teachers and work with campuses to place Student Teachers.
* Participate in virtual recruitment activities as needed.

Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a directly related field.
* 3-5 years in direct experience.
* Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records.
* Demonstrated problem solving/investigative skills to research and respond to inquiries.
* Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities with limited supervision.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Demonstrated ability with personal computer software applications.
* Demonstrated ability to perform routine phases of accounting and budget operations.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with all levels of district personnel.
* Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, communication, customer service, supervision and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
