The Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) Culpeper District is seeking a Fiscal Technician to provide exceptional customer service while entering and maintaining accurate financial files. The selected candidate will need to be flexible, adaptive, dependable, and technologically proficient.

As a VDOT Fiscal Technician, you will:

Perform fiscal transactions in support of district procurement activities

Key data into the State’s automated financial management system

Maintain, calculate, research, validate and perform large amounts of data entry transaction of various kinds

Process transactions including time and attendance, accounts payable, procurement, small purchase charge card (SPCC), travel expenses, inventory, and other related fiscal transactions.

Interpret and apply basic policies and procedures related to financial transactions and general business operations.

**Minimum Qualifications**

* Knowledge of basic accounting and business principles sufficient to monitor and analyze data
* Experience performing high volume data entry into computerized financial systems and skill in performing basic business math calculations
* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers and to work independently or as a team member
* Experience interpreting and applying basic policy, procedures and implement procedural and transactional changes
* Experience preparing financial reports and running queries
* Experience with file management to include purging and disposing of files in accordance with records retention guidelines and schedules
* Knowledge and experience processing accounts payable, performing account reconciliations, and tracking time and attendance
* Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs
* Valid driver’s license required.

**Additional Considerations**

* Experience applying GAAP in governmental accounting, internal controls, inventory and compliance
* Experience processing accounts payable and accounts receivable
* Experience performing account reconciliations and tracking time and attendance
