**Position Summary**
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is positioned along the majestic Mississippi River in the midst of grand bluffs and breathtaking outdoor scenery. We are seeking an individual to join the application review team in the Admissions Office.

This position will be responsible for the comprehensive review of all undergraduate applications and will be expected to develop and implement procedures to handle the variety of undergraduate applications (e.g. freshman, transfer, second degree, international students, special non-degree students, and Early College Credit Program students). This position will examine and determine residency of all undergraduate degree-seeking candidates and special non-degree students. When admission policies and regulations are not immediately applicable, this position will be expected to make decisions necessary to process the applications and work with the Director/Associate Director of Admissions when needed. In addition to the duties already listed, this position will maintain admission records, create and generate admissions correspondence, and work with the admissions business processes of the student information system and documents management system. The individual in this position will have primary responsibility for a designated admit type. It is expected this individual is knowledgeable of the application processing for all admit types to assist other Application Review Specialist positions at various times of the year based upon workload. Normal office working hours for this position are 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. All responsibilities shall be executed while demonstrating commitment to Inclusive Excellence.

**Required Qualifications**
* Minimum of high school diploma and 3 years of administrative office work experience (associate or bachelor’s degree may substitute for years of experience).
* Knowledge and experience in the use of computer software including Microsoft Office Suite.
* Knowledge and experience in the use of electronic calendaring and email.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to determine a variety of math computations (i.e. class rank, grade point average).
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Earned Associate and/or Bachelor’s degree.
* Work experience in higher education setting.
* Strong knowledge of student information and document management systems.
* Ability to use discretion and good judgment regarding confidential information.
* Possess attention to details and time lines/due dates despite frequent interruptions.
* Ability to coordinate projects, work independently and to independently set priorities tomeet demands of the position.
* Ability to interpret policies, procedures and protocols of an administrative office.
* Excellent organization and time management skills.

The Division of Student Affairs’ role is to enhance and support students learning experience here at UWL. We work closely with faculty, staff, community members, alumni and most importantly, students to provide quality programs and services which promote learning, leadership, involvement, service and the celebration of diversity. The Division includes a number of departments: Admissions and Recruitment, Campus Child Center, Counseling and Testing, Student Health Center, Intercollegiate Athletics, Recreational Sports, Residence Life, Student Life, University Centers, and the Vice Chancellor & Dean of Students office. The staff of the Division is truly student-centered and concerned about the holistic development of the student.

* Coordinate undergraduate application process. Review file for completeness and correspond with student if materials are incomplete.
* Perform comprehensive review of undergraduate applications based upon admit type. This may include: review high school transcript and/or college/university transcript(s),determine if academic units have been satisfied, calculate high school rank/percentile, calculate cumulative GPA in transferable credits, review courses in progress, and verify ACT/SAT scores.
* Read and interpret essays, recommendations, and other materials included in admissions applications.
* Determine residency of students according to Wisconsin Statutes. Input applications into student information system. Complete maintenance on applications as necessary.
* Review all high school and college transcripts to determine if applicant is admissible based on admission guidelines.
* Examine and determine eligibility of undergraduate applications based upon admit type which involves evaluation of non-routine student academic records.
* Coordinate and oversee the process of admission decision letters.
* Follow up on incomplete admission records (i.e., application fee, official high school transcripts, ACT or SAT scores, courses in progress, official college/university transcripts, collect and review final official high school and final official college/university transcripts for registered students.)
* Maintain contact with Director/Assistant Director of Admissions on applications that require further evaluation.
* Prepare and mail registration information to all newly admitted undergraduate degree students before each term.
* Process transfer credit evaluations.
* Collaborate with appropriate offices to maintain transfer credit database.
* Place restriction on student record if incomplete from a previous term.
* Coordinate the cancellation process of undergraduate applications based upon admit type.
* Coordinate various checklist processes. This may include ACT/SAT reports.

* Responsible for keeping current in the area of office technology.
* Assist with coordination of undergraduate enrollment process. This includes enrollment management, on-campus housing, registration, etc.
* Assist with opening and distributing mail. Link high school records, college/university records, ACT or SAT scores, letters of recommendation, etc. in student’s record.
* Be knowledgeable about other university staff positions. Assist when problems arise, or workloads become too heavy. Also assist with workloads when unexpected illness occurs among other staff members.
