**Job Duties**

VDOT’s Staunton District HR section is seeking a highly motivated WAGE Human Resources Consultant to join their team! As the qualified candidate, you will provide support to Senior Consultants in the key areas of Talent Acquisition, Data Management, Performance Management, Benefits, and Training/Development by performing front-line consultation with prospective and current employees on a broad array of HR topics. Specifically, you will:

* Creating and maintaining computerized reports, working with different data types in order to obtain and craft information.
* Consult with managers to create and develop advertisements and recruitment strategies.
* Sourcing candidates and screening for qualifications.
* Participate in interview panels, career fairs, and other public events.
* Develop interview questions and work with HR teams to ensure selection justifications are sound, meeting all federal and state requirements.
* Provide information regarding policies and procedures
* Coach manager, supervisors, and employees on performance planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
* Ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions within established deadlines.
* Enter and maintain a variety of HR systems, and work with subject matter experts to resolve discrepancies.

**The position you are applying for is an Hourly (wage) position. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than an average of 29 hours a week and cannot exceed 1,500 hours within the wage employment year of May 1 to April 30. This position does not include health insurance, retirement, or any state benefits.**

**Minimum Qualifications**

* Knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration
* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences and to make

presentations and conduct meetings

* Knowledge of HR practices and principles
* Experience operating office equipment and a variety of Microsoft Office Suite software
* Ability to always maintain confidentiality
* Ability to collect, assemble, process, and file information using manual and automated systems.

**Additional Considerations**

* A combination of training, experience, or education in human resources or related field

desired

VDOT utilizes a market-based pay program, which has been approved by DHRM. Therefore, advertised rates of pay may or may not align with the Commonwealth pay bands.

Telework eligibility will be in accordance with the Commonwealth’s Teleworking policy.

VDOT is an emergency response agency. This position may work in emergencies, including weekends, holidays, and after normal business hours; assignments may vary based on business needs to include working in severe weather.
