**Department Information**
The School of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) has 42 academic faculty, 30 research faculty and post-docs, approximately 100 visiting scholars and Tech Temps, and 27 administrative and technical staff. **Job Summary**

Provide professional level support of human resources functions within a unit. Includes serving as information resource on human resources related processes and procedures as well as initiating and processing of HR documentation. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: unit management and staff, Office of Human Resources staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit managers and staff. **Responsibilities**

**Job Duty 1 -**
Serve as a unit-level contact for HR-related processes and procedures
**Job Duty 2 -**
Review and coordinate process of hiring requests from unit management
**Job Duty 3 -**
Coordinate activities associated with employee on-boarding and orientation; May assist with recruitment efforts and selection process
**Job Duty 4 -**
Initiate and/or process HR-related documentation (hiring packages, posting requests, schedules and reports, etc.)
**Job Duty 5 -**
Respond to inquiries regarding Institute and departmental HR policies and procedures; make referrals when appropriate
**Job Duty 6 -**
Gather and coordinate dissemination of information regarding new or revised HR related policies and procedures within unit.
**Job Duty 7 -**
Review and recommend revision to unit level HR processes as appropriate
**Job Duty 8 -**
Oversee employee record maintenance and transactions including salary, job, termination and other related changes
**Job Duty 9 -**
Perform other duties as assigned
**Required Qualifications**

**Educational Requirements**
High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma
**Required Experience**
Six to seven years of job related experience

Bachelor’s Degree, Technical Diploma, Associate’s Degree, two years college course work.
**Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities**

**SKILLS**
This job requires a working knowledge of institutional human resources policies and procedures as applied at the unit level as well as related regulations. Interpersonal skills and spoken and written communications skills are required as is use of office and HR specialized computer applications.

This position will be responsible for:
* Managing all of the facets of BridgeUSA (AKA J1 visa program) including hiring Visiting Scholars from on-boarding to off-boarding
* Process visa request, OPT, J1, H1B and Os
* Oversee the processing of new requests for the Youth Program within MSE
