We are seeking an experienced Java Architect with expertise in Ruby on Rails to lead the design and development of scalable SaaS systems. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with architecture, coding, and leadership responsibilities.
Location: Candidates must be willing to work onsite in either Mountain View, CA or New York City, NY.
Responsibilities:
* Architect and design large-scale, distributed SaaS applications.
* Lead technical design reviews, code reviews, and best practice initiatives.
* Design and develop AI-first and generative AI-first product features.
* Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, DevOps, and product managers.
* Estimate development efforts, identify dependencies, and mitigate risks.
* Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps enhancements.
* Implement observability, monitoring, and system health practices using tools like Splunk and Wavefront.
* Mentor engineering teams on system design and software best practices.
Required Skills:
* 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in architecture roles.
* Advanced experience with Java, Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, and distributed systems.
* Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Heroku.
* Experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, and CI/CD processes.
* Strong background with Agile (Scrum) methodologies.
* Experience with AI-first and Generative AI implementations is a strong plus.
* Strong skills in debugging, monitoring, and production operations (Splunk, Wavefront).
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* “Get Stuff Done” attitude with a strong sense of ownership.
Preferred:
* Experience designing microservices and event-driven architectures.
* Familiarity with SaaS security, scaling strategies, and performance optimization.
