Kafka Administrator

Onsite / Hybrid – New York

**Overall experience:**
8 years (4 years of experience working with Kafka)

A Kafka Administrator’s primary responsibility is to ensure the availability, performance, and security of a Kafka cluster, which is a distributed streaming platform. This involves tasks like installing, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring Kafka clusters, as well as managing topics, partitions, and access controls.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* **Installation, Configuration, and Maintenance:**

Install, configure, and maintain Kafka clusters and associated infrastructure. This includes managing operating systems, software, and cluster configurations.

* **Cluster Management:**

Manage Kafka brokers, topics, partitions, retention policies, and access control lists.

* **Monitoring and Troubleshooting:**

Monitor cluster performance, health, and availability, identifying and resolving issues to ensure high availability and reliability.

* **Performance Optimization:**

Optimize Kafka configurations, storage, and overall cluster performance.

* **Security:**

Manage access controls, security configurations, and authentication protocols for Kafka clusters.

* **Automation and Scripting:**

Automate deployment, configuration, and management of Kafka clusters

**Collaboration:**

Collaborate with other teams, including development and infrastructure, to ensure seamless integration and support.

Skills and Qualifications:

* **Experience:**
overall – 7 years/ 8 years, 4 years – worked as a Kafka Administrator or related role, a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field like Computer Science or Information Systems.
* **Knowledge:**
In-depth knowledge of Kafka architecture, concepts, and best practices.
* **Technical Skills:**
Strong understanding of
Linux
administration, networking, and scripting.
* **Problem-Solving:**
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Kafka clusters and related systems.
* **Communication:**
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other teams.
