**Lead SME – Tax Associate (Insurance Industry)**

**Contract Details:**

**Location:** Boston, MA or Springfield, MA (Remote with travel onsite for QE and YE close)

**Duration:** 12+ month contract

**Start:** ASAP

**Candidates Considered:** USC, GC and H1B candidates

**About the Role:**

We are seeking a Tax Associate (SME level) to support the Tax team as part of a large-scale finance transformation within the insurance industry. This role will focus on assisting with investment tax adjustments, tax basis calculations, and deferred tax reporting for assigned entities and investment classes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting/tax foundation with exposure to insurance industry practices and the ability to contribute effectively in a transformation environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

– Assist in the preparation, review, and documentation of investment tax adjustments.
– Support the calculation and reconciliation of tax basis and deferred taxes across assigned entities and investment classes.
– Ensure compliance with US GAAP, statutory accounting, and tax reporting requirements.
– Provide support during financial close cycles, including tax-related journal entries and reconciliations.
– Partner with Tax, Finance, and Technology teams to ensure accuracy and consistency of reporting.
– Contribute to process documentation and provide input into process improvements.
– Assist in testing and validation of tax processes within new systems during the SAP transformation.

**Required Skills & Experience:**

– 5+ years of experience in tax, accounting, or controllership roles.
– Insurance or financial services industry experience strongly preferred.
– Solid understanding of US GAAP, statutory accounting, and tax reporting concepts.
– Experience with investment accounting and tax adjustments a plus.
– Exposure to SAP FICO or other ERP systems preferred.
– Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
– Excellent communication and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
