The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Mechanical Methods & Modeling Leader within the Product Informatics & Modeling group in Solventum’s Central R&D organization, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:* *Work with business leaders, R&D leaders, scientists, and engineers to develop new mechanical bench test methods and in silico methods in line with business needs*
* *Lead a team of mechanical & biomechanical engineers focused on method and model development and validation to support medical device product design and product change management programs, testing associated with medical device product claims, and fundamental understanding of how our medical device products function*
* *Collaborate and communicate with R&D, Quality, and Supply Chain Continuity leadership and teams to ensure business needs and timelines are met*
* *Work across a center of excellence team for digital technologies in R&D to ensure integration of new approaches into mechanical method & modeling workflows*
* *Leverage strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and management skills to create momentum and deliver results in a timely manner by prioritizing personal workloads, as well as providing guidance, direction, and oversight to others.*
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:* Bachelor’s Degree or higher in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, materials science with mechanics focus or related discipline from an accredited institution (completed & verified prior to start)
* 7 years experience in mechanical method or model development in the medical device industry or other regulated industry
* 3 years experience in people leadership of engineering teams in the medical device industry or other regulated industry with a mechanical method or modeling development focus
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:* MS or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited institution (verified prior to start) with a computational focus
* 10+ years of mechanical modeling & method development experience in medical device industry or related industries.
* 5 years experience people leadership of mechanical modeling or engineering teams in the medical device industry
* Project management experience leading the development of hard good, materials science, or device products within the medical device industry
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
* Demonstrated success in leading and growing teams in an innovative R&D culture.
* Scientific knowledge and experience in the development of test methods and models utilized in the development of medical devices under relevant regulations and standards applicable to medical device compliance, such as ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and ASME V&V 40
* Familiarity with broader digital technologies such as machine learning, application development, and lab automation and their use at the intersection with and in the development of mechanical method and model workflows
Work location:* Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN at least 3 days per week)
Travel: May include up to 20% domestic and/or international

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $183,301 – $224,034, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
