Product Manager – Commercial/Utility Power Systems

This company, a growing global leader in power electronics technologies, is looking for a Product Manager to be the key team member for working between the customer and internal sales/engineering teams to develop next generation power solutions for the utility (including solar) and commercial markets.

Position Description
In this position, you’ll be responsible for the entire product lifecycle, starting with working directly with the sales team on new product concepts, presentations, and pricing. In addition, you’ll own and update the Product Roadmap. From there, you’ll develop requirements and work with domestic and overseas (Asia) development teams to make sure the product meets needs, plus support issue resolution after launch. Other responsibilities include:
* Create and maintain RFQ requirements documents based on customer requirements and/or market needs to BU Engineering for development.
* Manage the progress of the entire product development schedule.
* Articulate requirements to the Asian design team through periodic conference calls.
* Define spare parts and FRU pricing once the product enters the MP stage..
* Establish product roadmaps based on Sales and customer feedback as well as market trends.
* Create and maintain data sheets and product manuals for all products.
* If necessary, organize and coordinate tradeshows to display and market products to customers.
* Keep transfer cost file updated for the company’s and 3rd party suppliers’ products.
* Publish Customer price file to Sales team annually for standard products.
Qualifications
* Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline (MS a plus). MBA or some business/sales education preferred.
* 10+ years of experience in product development, including direct work with both engineering and sales/business development teams.
* Background in high-level (KW to MW level) power systems for the utility, industrial, or commercial industries required. Experience with solar or other renewables is a plus.
* Experience working with overseas and domestic development teams, with an ability to handle language/cultural differences (Mandarin knowledge a plus).
* Ability to travel overseas when required (not heavy, 20% max).
* Ability to handle infrequent evening meetings (only when needed/not a large part of the job).
Compensation:
$140-160K base salary, with a 15- 20% bonus target (potentially more for very experienced candidates)
