This position works in DEED’s Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) division, which empowers Minnesotans with disabilities to achieve their goals for competitive, integrated employment and career development. This position is part of the Virtual Intake Unit (VIU). The VIU is responsible for assisting adult applicants in applying for services, completing eligibility for services, and transferring participants to the VRS office in the appropriate service area.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
* Providing an orientation to interested applicants regarding the VRS program, including conducting a preliminary diagnostic interview with an applicant so that they can make an informed choice regarding applying for services
* Determining eligibility and priority for services by substantiating that the applicant needs specialized vocational services
* Developing an appropriate job goal consistent with the participant’s unique strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, career interests, and informed choice consistent with the general goal of competitive integrated employment
* Assisting the participant with the implementation and follow through of their Individual Plan for Employment (IPE)
* Providing effective case management, in accordance with agency standards, so that an efficient provision of services and agency objectives can be achieved
This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel for meetings, trainings, or presentations. This position is eligible to report to any of the following VRS offices:

* **Hiring Incentive: The successful incumbent of this position may be eligible for a hiring incentive of $5,000 paid out in two (2) lump sums following the completion of the required probationary period and following two (2) years of successful service in the role**

### **Minimum Qualifications**
**To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should clearly describe how you meet each minimum and/or preferred qualification listed, including dates of employment.**
Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Human Services, Sociology, Education, Social Work, Psychology, or other closely related field as determined by the agency
Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:
Experience in cultivating relationships with external stakeholders or customers (e.g., school staff, students, businesses, vendors)
Skill in communication to provide prompt and accurate information to colleagues and customers
Knowledge of and ability to conduct an assessment of Vocational Rehabilitation needs, including but not limited to an assessment of personality, interests, interpersonal skills, work experience, educational achievements, etc.
Ability to create and maintain case notes, reports, and records
### **Preferred Qualifications**
Experience in the following:
* Providing services to people with disabilities
* Assessing and/or providing career exploration and planning, work-based learning experiences, counseling on opportunities for enrollment in educational programs, workplace readiness training, instruction in self-advocacy, and/or employment related services to youth and/or adults with disabilities
* Developing and maintaining relationships with diverse populations such as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and Native American populations
Ability to communicate in a second language (specifically American Sign Language, Somali, Hmong, or Spanish)
