Job Summary

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing cutting-edge automation systems. This position offers the opportunity to lead projects involving PLC, HMI, and robotic automation designs while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with world-class manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Controls Engineering Department, managing PLC, HMI, and robotic automation designs.
* Conduct pFMEAs (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and Risk Assessments.
* Start up and commission automation equipment, coordinating with suppliers and contractors.
* Develop, test, and modify automation systems, including programming industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka, Yaskawa).
* Program PLCs (Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and motion systems using AC and Servo Drives.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical engineers, purchasing, and management) on automation projects.
* Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and quality.
* Train maintenance personnel, engineers, and operators on new processes.
* Write instruction and training documentation for customer systems.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards (OSHA, RIA, NFPA, ISO).
* Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on automation methods and programming.
Qualifications
* Education: Associate’s degree or higher in a related field, with at least 3 years of experience.
* Experience:
* 5+ years in automation systems, preferably with a systems integrator or machine builder.
* Strong background in PLC logic and programming (Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens).
* Experience in HMI or SCADA programming is a plus.
* Technical Skills:
* Knowledge of PI&D (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and electrical schematics.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Soft Skills:
* Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior staff.
* Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Work Environment
* Primarily in an office and shop environment with travel to client facilities as needed (up to 30%).
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays for installations, commissioning, and maintenance.
* Requires occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) and ability to meet specific vision and physical demands.
Compensation And Benefits
* Salary: $105,000 – $125,000 per year.
