Software Engineer – API Platform (Full-Time, On-Site – San Francisco, CA)

💰 $130,000–$240,000 + Equity (0.05%–0.20%)

📍 Must be based in—or willing to relocate to—San Francisco

We’re partnered with a high-growth construction-tech startup that’s transforming how a $12T industry works by connecting legacy systems to modern SaaS tools through a unified API and automation platform. They’re already cash-flow positive, scaling quickly, and solving real, complex problems with technical depth and speed.

The founding team is tight-knit, highly technical, and has worked together for over a decade. They’re solving unsexy, overlooked infrastructure problems that have massive impact—and they’ve eliminated many of the early-stage risks you’d usually find at startups.

What you’ll do

• Build and scale high-performance backend systems, unifying fragmented construction software through a standardized API

• Interface with complex legacy systems (SQL, DLL, API-based) to modernize how data moves in construction

• Design features that scale across dozens of systems (pagination, filters, auth, caching, etc.)

• Contribute to both backend and frontend (React) projects that dogfood their own API

• Help build a robust testing and release pipeline across 1000+ endpoints

Ideal background

• 1–5 years of backend or full-stack engineering experience

• Strong CS fundamentals and independent builder mindset

• Experience working with distributed systems, APIs, or infra-heavy products

• Comfortable navigating ambiguous technical challenges

• Open to early-stage risk and hungry for impact
