About the Opportunity:
DMI, LLC is seeking a SQL Application Developerto join us.
The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) currently gathers relevant institutional data through annual collections. These collections focus primarily on data for credit-bearing programs. Throughcollaborative efforts with the Maryland community colleges, MHEC has begun collecting a new collection
specific to workforce training completers. Workforce programs are directly tied to specific workforce outcomes, particularly when there is a license or professional certificate involved. MHEC is in need of a technical solution to evaluate workforce outcomes and the success of workforce programs at degreegranting institutions and private career schools regulated by MHEC. To do this, MHEC seeks a SQL Developer to design, develop, test, and implement an application to automate the workforce training data collection process, editing procedures, and reporting. The developer will provide technology and infrastructure support for the delivery of key data system implementation activities as defined by the project manager for the Workforce Data Quality Initiative (WDQI) **Duties and** **Responsibilities:**
1. Gain an understanding of the existing workforce training data collection system, its data
elements, specifications, and population in preparation to build the new application.
2. Collaborate with information technology staff, MHEC’s research and longitudinal teams,
workgroups, institutions, private career schools, and stakeholders
3. Perform coding in a SQL environment to build out the workforce training data collection system
4. Develop SQL queries, stored-procedures, data loading processes, custom reports based on
research requirements, and other data element specifications
5. Build out comparisons and validations between the workforce training system and other
established MHEC data collection systems
6. Develop a structure and process for an internal workforce program inventory of approved programs
7. Develop and maintain user and operations documentation as required until project completion.
Qualifications:
**Education and Years of Experience:**Bachelors or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in information
technology or other related field. **Required and Desired Skills/Certifications:**
1. Demonstrate at least eight years of experience in SQL development, designing, testing,
implementing, and maintaining application systems and programs
2. Strong working knowledge of SQL database configurations and permissions
3. Strong skillset in MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
4. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
5. Strong experience as a team member and turning specifications into code
6. Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to interact positively with all
