**Position Summary**
This 9-month tenure-track faculty appointment will lead and promote advocacy efforts that increase awareness of and cultivate interaction with library resources and services, especially as related to student learning, research, and success. Enhance the library’s visibility and effectively communicate its value to stakeholders. Foster a culture of learning and further the Library Department’s mission of graduating information-literate students. Assist in reference services, information literacy instruction, and collection development in assigned subjects. Participate in collegial governance, and campus and professional activities.

* Orchestrate specialized services, programs, and events on behalf of the library, such as presentations, activities, workshops, and library tours, that showcase library resources and services.
* Cultivate strategic and meaningful collaborations with stakeholders to build awareness, increase use, and better integrate library resources and services into academic and campus life.
* Undertake and coordinate various creative and dynamic first-year student experiences that foster engagement and learning.
* Implement data-driven evaluation of the library’s outreach initiatives to maximize their impact and effectiveness and improve user experiences.
* Serve as Outreach Committee chair, leading communication efforts and contributing to the library’s news blog.
* Serve as Outreach unit lead, collaborating with other Outreach unit staff to publish promotional and informational library messaging, including various print and electronic materials.
* Produce the library’s newsletter, the Fine Print, in collaboration with the Library Director and Department Chair.
* Teach a significant number of information literacy instruction sessions.
* Serve as a member of the Information Literacy Team, contributing expertise to support related information literacy functions.

Other Responsibilities* Participate in reference services, including occasional weekend desk shifts.
* Participate in collection development areas of interest or expertise.
* Participate in information literacy instruction.
* Serve on Murphy Library, university, UW System, and professional committees as elected or appointed.
* Engage in an active program of scholarship and professional and community service as outlined in the University’s Faculty Handbook and the Library’s Departmental Guidelines.

**Required Qualifications**
* Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent international degree at time of application.
* Professional experience in outreach and communication.

**Preferred Qualifications**
* Post-MLS professional experience working in an academic library environment involving outreach and communication.
* Familiarity with working in a peer-governed academic department including conducting research and participating in professional service.
* Ability to take initiative, working both autonomously and in a collaborative team environment.
* Experience with creative writing and marketing.
* Demonstrated experience with graphic design software, such as Adobe Suite.
* Demonstrated ability to teach information literacy instruction.
* Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively collaborate with project stakeholders, faculty/staff, and students.

As a 9-month tenure-track faculty member in a student-centered teaching library, Library Department members strive to ensure that UWL students graduate as **information literate** citizens with the ability to recognize when information is needed, and with the ability to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively and ethically. We set Murphy Library’s curriculum for teaching, which encompasses all aspects of librarianship. We are responsible for managing information by selecting, organizing, providing access to, and preserving physical and online information resources, and we take responsibility for assisting and educating others in the effective utilization of such resources. We contribute to the growth and progress of the discipline of library and information science through scholarship, and we serve our colleagues, peers, and community through professional service activities.
