**Position Summary**
The Department of Art at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL), within the School or Visual and Performing Arts and the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities, invites applications for a full-time, academic-year Instructional Academic Staff position in Art Education and Art. This role will primarily involve teaching in our growing Art Education program, teaching General Education Art courses, and advising Art Education students. Depending on the candidate’s expertise, there may also be opportunities to supervise student teaching placements for Art Education students.

We seek an enthusiastic and committed educator dedicated to teaching excellence and mentorship for students pursuing K-12 teaching licensure. The ideal candidate will support students preparing for careers in art education and help meet the increasing demands of our program. The Art Department seeks a devoted teacher and mentor to students from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and career aspirations. Our program emphasizes practical, field-based learning, and we are looking for someone passionate about fostering high-quality teaching and learning in Art Education.

Expected duties include:* Teach Art Education courses as part of the teacher preparation program.
* Contribute to the department’s General Education program.
* Advise and support Art Education students in their academic and professional development to meet graduation requirements and licensure endorsement.
* Participate in department, college, and university service.
* Supervise and mentor students in field placements, including Field 1, Field 2, and Student Teaching (depending on qualification).

This position is affiliated with the School of Education (SOE) and the dean of SOE will provide feedback regarding hiring and personnel reviews. School of Education affiliated staff are expected to be engaged in activities and continuous learning to inform and enhance the work they do with prospective teachers. Some additional work hours outside the academic school year may be required in order to align duties with the K-12 school year. Staff in this position collaborate with the School of Education on advising and curricular-related issues.

**Required Qualifications**
* Master’s degree in Art Education or a related field.
* Current or prior K-12 art teaching licensure.
* A minimum of three years of K-12 teaching experience in the United States.

**Preferred Qualifications**
* Ability to teach and supervise pre-service educators in Art Education.
* Experience with the edTPA teacher performance assessment
* Experience as a cooperating teacher and/or student teaching supervisor
* Masters of Fine Art or Doctorate in Art Education or a related field
