Very Strong Nice To Have: Prior experience in a “hard tech” domain (manufacturing, electronics, science etc.).

Familiarity with CAD software or Background in electronic circuit design

Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science or Engineering/Science Domain

Previous experience in coordinating product launches

Experience with project management tools like Trello or Asana Jira

Experience leading team expansions (Have hired engineers)

Co-Founded their own startup of Founding PM – huge positive!

Must Have

5+ years in product management, in a tech and software engineering environment

Experience with Ad placement (main responsibility) or marketplace software companies – if no Ads/marketplace, must be stellar

Strong pedigree

Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean)

Experience making data-driven decisions, with tools like Mixpanel, Google Analytics, and SQL

Strong communicator: explains KPIs and complex concepts to diverse stakeholders

Attention to detail, resourceful, and good judgment.

Passion building great customer/user experience

strategic (how to make the tradeoff between needs and resources, can make decisions about intentional tradeoffs)

Hybrid – located in Bay Area: 3 days/week in office

Must NOT Have

Job hopper or employment gap – More than 2 job changes within 1 year in the past 5 years

Currently in a managerial/lead type role, mainly managing other PMs and not hands-on

Lack of Agile methodology experience

Poor or verbose communication skills

Only had jobs being told what to do, not making own product decisions (common for larger companies)

The GTM TPM will primarily help on our Customer side of our product (supplier, distributors, and manufacturers.) A hardware background is not necessary but the person should have Software/Tech Product management experience, preferably experience with Ad placement products or marketplace Software companies.

Looking for people with Software mentality and can move and ship quickly. Growth stage startup experience would be great. Less ideal/ not great if they only have FANG experience. This persona ideally is creative, open to data driven AB testing and can communicate well with engineers as well as customers.

Relevant experience: Ads at Instacart, Amazon, Google, Youtube with the caveat that only experience at large tech companies could still be a miss.

Ability to provide quick/concise work history summary. Confusing or rambling style will not work even if they are friendly.

Short stints or employment gaps are red flags and require convincing explanations, not generic answer like layoff or taking time off

Asking about work-life balance in the first interview is a red flag and likely leads to rejection. The company expects normal startup hours, and prioritizing work-life balance won’t work for early dynamic startups.

Good judgement and very adaptive – some features need to move fast and iterate; some features need to be bullet proof.
